Current R&D/S&T Activities

  • Method Development and analysis of toxicant in food, environment (soil & water) and biological samples
  • Synthesis of molecular probes to identify the toxicant
  • Analysis of perturbed metabolites using metabolomic approach
  • Use of natural extracts to mitigate the toxicity

Toxic organic pollutants, such as pesticide are ubiquitous contaminants in ecosystems. Most of  the contaminants are lipophilic and thus can be accumulated in higher tropic level organisms and transfer through the food chain to humans and finally induces harmful effects like inflammation. It is therefore critical for human health prospective and thus continues monitoring of residue level in samples collected from various part of ecosystem and in culinary items. Simultaneously, monitoring of up and down regulation of pro-inflammatory mediators in numerous bio-matrices is required to know the toxicity of xenobiotics. Currently, my group is working on analytical method development for the analysis of toxicants using high end instruments and further, correlating with the toxic effect caused by environmental contaminants and perturbation in lipid profiling using metabolomics approach and how the natural products may help to prevent the toxicity.
