Current R&D/S&T Activities

In a broader perspective our primary research interest is to assess the impact of food additives, adulterants and allergens on the immune system and ways to mitigate their toxic manifestations.  Major thrust areas of interest where our group focuses are:-

  • Food allergy is a major public health concern globally for which there is no cure. Our group aims to understand the novel attributes of proteins imparting then allergenic property. Further, we aim to uncover the role of regulatory T cells in generating peripheral tolerance against the allergens. Based on the knowledge gaps addressed through these studies, we aim to project novel intervention strategies for a permanent cure of allergy.

  • Health risk assessment in Indian population pertaining to exposure of food additives, contaminants and adulterants.
